On our holiday in Mexico, we ran into a colony of Iguana's. They were not scared at all, so it was easy to take some pictures.

Espeletias are endemic to Colombia and Ecuador. That means that they only occur there. Locally they are known as 'Frailejones', which means 'man'. They are indeed up to 2 meters in length and look like people, from a distance although. Espelatias as far as the eye can see. Impressive.

In June and July 2004 I was in Ecuador for a project. I had to visit a lot of paramos. A paramo is a high-altitude ecosystem. Roughly between the upper forrest line and the eternal snow. Some of these places were the most beautiful I've ever seen.
